  1. This is really lovely!

Can you give a few basic instructions, such as the number of “repeats” of the basic pattern to reach the desired length of the necklace? (What is the length of the necklace pictured? ). These would help us novices to know if we are on the right track.

Thanks for the patterns! I have sooooo many I want to make!

      • Ruth, I have to assume that the four beads at the beginning of the pattern are where the clasp will attach….at least that’s the way I read it.

As a very novice bead stitcher, these patterns are a bit of a challenge to me, but a few of them look like something I can do.

I think that maybe the lady who posts these patterns may have limited English, and has simplified the patterns to schematic drawings so as to make them “international”, which helps a lot, but I sometimes need more (and it appears others do, too) to get me feeling confident of what is happening with the pattern. I guess our best shot is to keep posting questions, and hope that a more experienced beader will share some insight with us.

I was particularly attracted to this pattern and want to try it, but I think I need to start with something a lot simpler first just to get the hang of it. But this one is a definite “want to do”!!

        • OOPS—forgot a couple of thoughts!

I THINK the four beads are the part where the clasp connects on each end, and the middle section is shown just to give you the stitching pattern, and you just keep working the pattern until you reach the desired length. I would like to know how long to make this. I assume it should fit close at the base of the neck like a collar rather than a “necklace” that would hang down much further, although I can also see it possibly as something longer that might even be made to fit the length of a scoop-necked top (maybe even attached to the garment in some way). It would be very striking that way.
